MANDATE
The mandate was to develop an original typeface along with a specimen book that would be inspired by an object of my choice. My typeface was inspired by a faux wavy succulent plant.
DETAILS
Flow’s design includes decorative waves, curved legs and rounded edges to replicate the curvature and movement represented on the inspiration. It emphasizes a playful feel and introduces a youthful look to the user.
PROCESS
The process consisted of several sketches of each letter to accurately embrace the flowy feel of the leaves followed by many critiques and constructive criticism that improved the details of the typeface. The letters were then transferred to Illustrator then Glyphs for final touches.
SPECIMEN BOOK
The simple and modern layouts of the specimen booklet is meant to accentuate the typeface. The colour schemes are meant to embody the organic touch of the succulent plant. The book was hand bound with transparent plastic string to keep the aesthetic minimalistic.
