mandate
The purpose of this project was to demonstrate an understanding of biomimicry design which is the composition of materials, structure and systems that are influenced by elements of nature such as plants, fruits and animals.
GOAL
My partner and I were interested in the avocado, particularly how the pit disassembles itself from the fruit. Our goal was to construct a table that had a compartment that was removable from the structure.
DETAILS
The bowl representing the pit of the avocado served as a portable compartment to store items. The lid of the bowl was served to hide the storage space and also served to place items on top.
CONSTRUCTION
The bowl was constructed only by its outline to save wood and carved carefully on the lathe while the metal frame was shaped into circles and welded together.
