THE MANDATE
Yiara Magazine is a student-run, undergraduate feminist art and art history publication based in Montreal, who publishes on an annual basis. Myself and three other graphic designers had the chance to design Yiara magazine’s 7th issue for the year of 2019.
GOAL
After reading all essays and analyzing every visual work, my team and I saw a reoccurring reference or emphasis on the body. We noticed how each visual work was bold, powerful and filled with vibrant colours. Our goal was to emphasize all these themes through typography, colours and illustrations throughout the magazine.
PROCESS
All fonts were created by women and represented the unique forms and shapes of the body. The colours were chosen to accentuate the visual works and the illustrations were related to the subject of the essays.
FINAL RESULTS
We received great feedback from the Yiara team. They were ecstatic with the final results. The magazine will be featured in Concordia's Webster Library and Fine Arts Reading Room.
